The Quiet Moment Between Stations

There’s a small moment I like in Tokyo.

It’s the time between getting off one train and walking to the next place.

Not the destination.

Not the commute.

Just that in-between space.

People move fast, but no one is rushing me.

The sound of footsteps, a vending machine humming,

a breeze that doesn’t care where I’m going.

Tokyo hides a lot of kindness in these short pauses.

You just have to notice them.

Today, that was enough.
